Saginaw Future Inc. recognizes Michigan Sugar for new partnership, local investment
FRANKENMUTH – Michigan Sugar Company was recognized Friday, February 23 with an Economic Excellence Award from Saginaw Future, Inc. at the organization’s 26th annual awards luncheon. The award recognizes businesses of all sizes that invest in Saginaw County and the Great Lakes Bay Region through the creation of economic opportunities, economic diversification and community investment.
“Michigan Sugar is truly proud of our company’s local impact throughout Saginaw County and the region, and we appreciate Saginaw Future, Inc. for honoring our locally-owned cooperative with an Economic Excellence Award,” said Rob Clark, director of communications and community relations with Michigan Sugar. “Michigan Sugar is focused on investing locally and forging new partnerships, and we appreciate all those in Saginaw County and throughout Michigan who continue to work with us to grow the economy and create jobs.”
The award bestowed Friday noted the recent announcement of a partnership between Michigan Sugar Company and Texas-based Westway Feed Products to build a $1 million liquid feed plant in Carrollton Township.

We congratulate Michigan Sugar and all those who received an Economic Excellence Award this year.”
Michigan Sugar is a leading regional job creator and employs more than 2,000 employees annually. Its local factories produce more than one billion pounds of sugar every year, and the cooperative generates more than $1.5 billion in statewide economic activity. The cooperative is owned by more than 1,000 local farm families.
